Trans and gay citizens do not have many friends in the US government; however, Tammy Baldwin is in the friendly minority.
Baldwin has been a Democratic Wisconsin Congresswoman for ten years, and she was the first openly gay person who ran as so, instead of coming out while in office. And since she has been elected, Baldwin has followed two passions: universal healthcare and protection for gay and transpeople. She is pushing to extend partner benefits to federal workers, and she previously pushed to include trans workers in a legislation to protect them from discrimination in the workplace.
They were not included, but Baldwin swore, ""You are not forgotten. And our job will not be finished until you, too, share fully in the American dream."
Beautiful.

Yay Tammy! How awesome! I wish she would come speak on campus sometime. I'd like to meet her...and Wisconsin isn't that far away, right?
YES
Wisconsin does something right!!
Anonymous, I am deleting your comment because it has nothing to do with the matter at hand, and would probably offend people from Wisconsin.
I may not agree with the lifestyle but I do like to hear that people are being stood up for.
Good for you, Colt.
Good for the innocent and the weak.
Yeah, colt...I don't get why other people, even if they think there's something wrong with being trans, wouldn't want to protect them from being treated unfairly. Obviously most people have no concept of how trans people get treated, even though these are some of the same people who attack them just for being different. It's kinda crazy if you think about it. Somebody just EXISTS in a way that challenges what somebody else thinks about men and women, and that somebody else decides that's reason enough to harass or fire or rape or kill them.
Just be careful because it is very easy to be that harasser. Everyone has an opinion and just because someone disagrees doesn't make them wrong, it makes them different. It is hard to get to a state of mind that says "lets find the truth" instead of "I'm right". But I digress.
