Well, apparently Chinese officials decided to demolish the park before it was even open to the public.
I never really got to see exactly what Love Land was supposed to look like, but the builders' ideas about making China more open to talking about sex (and safe sex) seemed helpful to me.Developers billed the attraction in Chongqing as tasteful and socially beneficial. But senior officials conducted an emergency tour of Love Land last weekend after it attracted worldwide publicity, state media reported today.
"The investigation determined the park's content was vulgar and that it was neither healthy nor educational. It had had an evil influence on society and had to be torn down immediately," a municipal publicity official told the Global Times newspaper.
Is talking about sex through a theme park really "evil"?

not "evil" per se, but could send the wrong ideas. plus, never believe what the news report says word to word. it is possible that the authorities of the theme said such things (about promoting safe sex and such) just to "legitimize" the park, but in reality, could be hoping to cash in on the theme of sex. additionally, talking about sex is not done in the same way universally. an effort to open up discussion about sex is different from culture to culture (or country to to country).
I agree. I actually did have s very similar thought while I was reading the first report about the park, that maybe the owners were just trying to sell their park for approval when they said it was to open up discussions about sex.
